At TTS we have been teaching people to PAT test for over 12 years. We regularly run courses around the UK and we also run courses at your site, when you want.

There is no previous electrical experience required for this 1 day course, we will take you from start to finish with excellent instructors, training aids and if you have a PAT test machine we can show you how to use it, if you don’t have one, we can loan you one for the course and even provide advice to which machines would be the most suitable. .

What is PAT Testing?
Portable appliance testing commonly referred to as PAT testing is a systematic approach to ensuring your portable appliances are safe for continued use. A competent and trained person needs to make the decision whether the item is safe and uses a variety of assessment methods.
What is PAC Testing?
A very common error is people call PAT testing PAC testing. PAT testing is Portable Appliance Testing.
What areas do you cover for on-site PAT training?
We will run our PAT testing course anywhere, we regularly go to clients sites in England, Scotland and Wales. We also have run courses in Europe for some of our customers.
Who can do PAT testing?

PAT testing is the process of ensuring the appliance is safe, the process that we need to follow to make the decisions that an appliance is safe could be done by most people.

To do PAT testing you need to complete some training and be assessed as competent. Most people after such training could become a PAT tester.

Will i get a certificate?
Of course, all successful learners will receive a certificate, if you complete the competency course, you will receive a certificate from us (TTS) and if you complete the City and Guilds version of the course, you will receive a City and Guilds certificate. There is no requirement for one over the over.
Everyone's a PAT Testing Expert!

A quick search about PAT testing and just about everyone claims to be a “PAT testing expert”.
Any PAT testing course worth doing will follow the IET Code of Practice (Currently 4th edition). Please ensure your “PAT Testing Expert” courses follows this.

What is a PAT Tester Calibration?
A PAT tester is the test and measurement instrument needed to complete the full PAT test. It measures levels of resistance and it needs to be checked at suitable intervals. Most manufacturers and the IET Code of Practice state that this should be annual. We can arrange for your PAT tester to be calibrated if you require.
How long does the certificate last?
Unlike some of our courses there is no formal time limit. The certificate is valid for as long as the COP is valid. Some customers do a 3 year refresh for their own records.
How much is a PAT tester?

PAT testers start from a few hundred pounds to a few thousand pounds. Call for advice or ask your trainer on the day for advice.  we also have a pst shop https: PAT TESTING SHOP

Will I be able to PAT test as a service?
Yes! There is no requirement to have any certain level of qualification to PAT test as a business. The requirement from the HSE is you must be a competent person – how you evidence this is up to you.

This competency course is suitable for all, regardless of any previous electrical experience.

Certification

The course has a multiple choice test and a
practical assessment, you must pass both to get a certificate. Successful candidates will receive a
Certificate of training and competence in PAT Testing.

This UKRS course is suitable for all, even people with no electrical experience.

Certification
Successful candidates will receive a UKRS accredited Certificate, Competence in Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).

Length
The course will usually commence at 9 am, finishing at approximately 4/5 pm. This course runs over one day.

Location
This course can either be on-site or we run this around the UK in many locations.
