Course overview
Who is the Bristol PAT testing course for?
Warehouse, retail and facilities teams along the M5, landlords, and in-house testers from Bath and South Wales who would rather not sit in Bristol traffic. No electrical background needed. Newport and Weston-super-Mare both use this venue more than they use Cardiff or Exeter.

What you'll learn
Electrical safety, regulations and responsibilities, appliance classes I/II/III, insulation and earthing, earth leakage and run tests, load tests, and how to record results correctly.

How the day runs
Morning theory, then hands-on testing of real appliances on real PAT testers — yours or ours — finishing with an assessment. Your UKRS certificate follows within 7–10 days. Typically 9:30–4:30.

PAT training in Bristol
Why train with us in Bristol?
Cribbs Causeway is two minutes from Junction 17. You park on site, you are not hunting for a space in the centre, and the Prince of Wales Bridge makes it a straightforward run from Newport.
Bath, Gloucester, Cheltenham and Weston-super-Mare are the usual catchment. The day is the same as every other TTS open course: IET 5th Edition, hands-on testing, assessment on the day, certificate in 7–10 days.

Do I need to be an electrician?
No. You need training and to be assessed as competent — that's exactly what this course does. It's designed for people with little or no electrical experience.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes — every successful learner receives a UKRS-accredited Certificate of Competence from TTS, recognised UK-wide. It follows within 7–10 days of passing.
What if I don't have a PAT tester?
We'll loan you one for the course, free of charge. If you have your own machine, bring it — we'll teach you on the tester you'll actually be using. Our trainers can also recommend the right machine for your needs.
What does the course cover?
Electrical safety, regulations and responsibilities, insulation and earthing, appliance classes I/II/III, how electrical dangers arise, earth leakage and run tests, load tests, and how to record results correctly — all following the IET Code of Practice 5th Edition.

What is PAT tester calibration?
Your PAT tester measures resistance and current, so it needs checking at suitable intervals — most manufacturers and the IET Code say annually. We can arrange calibration for you.
