Course overview
Who is the Glasgow PAT testing course for?
Facilities and maintenance teams from hospitals, housing and factories across the west of Scotland, plus landlords and people starting a testing round of their own. You do not need to be an electrician. If you are east of the country, Edinburgh is usually the easier open day; if Glasgow is closer, this is the one.

What you'll learn
Electrical safety, regulations and responsibilities, appliance classes I/II/III, insulation and earthing, earth leakage and run tests, load tests, and how to record results correctly.

How the day runs
Morning theory, then hands-on testing of real appliances on real PAT testers — yours or ours — finishing with an assessment. Your UKRS certificate follows within 7–10 days. Typically 9:30–4:30.

PAT training in Glasgow
Why train with us in Glasgow?
This is the west of Scotland open course, not a hotel room with a slideshow. You train at the Premier Inn on Ballater Street, south of the river, with the M8 and M74 a couple of minutes away.
There is no car park on the hotel. Use a public car park and walk in, or call 01793 497181 if you get stuck. Same 1-day course as the rest of the UK: theory in the morning, testers in the afternoon, assessment before you leave.
Delegates regularly join our Glasgow course from Paisley, Motherwell, East Kilbride, Stirling, Hamilton and across Strathclyde — and if another location suits you better, the same course runs at 24 venues across the UK.

Is there parking at the Glasgow venue?
There's no parking at the venue itself, but several public car parks are within a short walk. Any trouble on the day, call 01793 497181.
Do I need to be an electrician?
No. You need training and to be assessed as competent — that's exactly what this course does. It's designed for people with little or no electrical experience.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes — every successful learner receives a UKRS-accredited Certificate of Competence from TTS, recognised UK-wide. It follows within 7–10 days of passing.
What if I don't have a PAT tester?
We'll loan you one for the course, free of charge. If you have your own machine, bring it — we'll teach you on the tester you'll actually be using. Our trainers can also recommend the right machine for your needs.
What does the course cover?
Electrical safety, regulations and responsibilities, insulation and earthing, appliance classes I/II/III, how electrical dangers arise, earth leakage and run tests, load tests, and how to record results correctly — all following the IET Code of Practice 5th Edition.
What if Glasgow dates don't suit me?

What is PAT tester calibration?
Your PAT tester measures resistance and current, so it needs checking at suitable intervals — most manufacturers and the IET Code say annually. We can arrange calibration for you.
